Royal Baubles from Andrew Prince

This afternoon I met up with British jewelry designer, Andrew Prince, at the Kentshire boutique in Bergdorf Goodman. Mr. Prince brought with him several tiaras he designed for Downton Abbey. For those of you who are unfamilar with the BBC series, he also designed Miss Piggy’s wedding jewels in Muppets Most Wanted. He revealed that Miss Piggy is close to life-size, but he had to make a tiara small enough to sit between her ears. He also spent some time playing with my hair and fitting me with his gorgeous crystal tiaras.

Slow Learners Movie

Co-directors and real life couple, Don Argott and Sheena Joyce, participated in an audience Q&A session at the Roxy Theatre this evening after a screening of their new indie comedy, Slow Learners. They are best known for the documentary, The Art of the Steal, and this marks their first venture into feature filmmaking. Slow Learners premiered at the Tribeca FIlm Festival and will show in 15 cities and On Demand and itunes. Adam Pally and Sarah Burns, who have undeniable chemistry, play socially awkward friends and coworkers, Jeff and Anne. They make a pact to improve their images, and hilarity ensues. The directors encouraged the cast to go off-script and the final cut is 85% improvisation. They made the film for less than $1 million, and shot it in 22 days in Media, PA. The result: one of the most refreshing, funny, and honest comedies I’ve seen in a long time. Go see it!

Fun Facts: The directors’ baby daughter has a scene stealing cameo. Also keep an eye out for a cameo from The Middle’s Charlie McDermott.

Who Wants to Live Underground?

Blast From the Past follows the above ground adventures of a young man who grew up in a fallout shelter during the height of the Cold War. His father, a paranoid scientist, secretly built an underground replica of his home with 35 years worth of supplies. The movie’s premise is not entirely farfetched. Not only do underground homes exist, one of them was recently on the market in Las Vegas and sold for over $1 million. Take a look at this unconventional luxury home:
